The opening day was always opened by the patron Helmuth Köcher, who, walking along the Passirio river, presented the heart location of the Merano event, the Kurhaus.
The presentation of the daily programme schedule was followed by the Symposia dedicated to sustainability entitled Sustainable ferments: Sowing the future moderated by journalist Angelo Carrillo. This time in the virtual lounge of the patron Helmuth Köcher were Norbert Niederkofler and Paolo Ferretti, Elisabetta Foradori and her daughter Myrtha Zierock, Eduard Bernhard, Roberto Pedrazza and Stefano Vanin; all the protagonists of the talk presented their projects, ideas, visions in the field of sustainability and nature, small seeds for a more ethical future and aimed at protecting the environment.
From the philosophy of Cook the Mountain, now a book made in South Tyrol and completely sustainable, to the projects of the Alpinn restaurant and the Care's event presented by Chef Niederkofler and communicator Ferretti; and then the experience of the biodynamic and circular agriculture project by Elisabetta Foradori and her daughter Myrtha, who have moved from monoculture linked to the vine to the cultivation of vegetables and breeding, passing through the promotion of education and culture linked to the agricultural world.
The road to our future is the project presented by Eduard Bernhard of Consorzio dei Vini dell'Alto Adige, an agenda for South Tyrolean winegrowers based on sustainability actions to improve the soil, vineyards, wine, people and territory by 2030. Finally, the project by Stefano Pedrazza and Roberto Vanin from Belluno, of The Eyes Republic, a company that produces glasses using bioplastics, obtained from vegetable sources and casein, according to a circular economy plan and using natural chemical systems.
Afterwards, space at Cult Enologist starring Luca D'Attoma who conducted a tasting together with The WineHunter Helmuth Köcher at the restaurant OW da Renato di Lana. Space then to the Showcooking, while in the afternoon the invitation is to get to know the wineries and their territories through Virtual Tours.
For the Wine Territories section Helmuth Köcher, journalist Francesco Fadda and the Mayor of Urzulei presented the history of the Vitis Silvestris Millenaria found in Sardinia and which has become the centre of a territorial promotion project.
This was followed by Champagne and then the Wine and Cloth Tasting, a curious tasting that saw the combination of some typical South Tyrolean fabrics and materials such as velvet, boiled wool, Loden and leather with as many wines selected by The WineHunter Helmuth Köcher, during a meeting with Alessia Borrelli in the Merano boutique Runggaldier Manufaktur of Andrea Maria Tratter.
The protagonist of MWF Friends was the already three-Michelin-starred chef Italo Bassi who told his story and his latest project in the kitchen. For the Innovation space of IVES - Oeno One Alain Deloire of the University of Montpellier, he spoke about primary and secondary metabolites of the berry in response to exposure to sunlight and temperature in the bunch area; H-FARM explained how to add to its sales network an order and sales platform designed for the HORECA channel and how to better control customer requests and reports, tracing and sharing the answers of individual cases with all employees involved.
