After a two-year stop, the most important international wine and spirits fair reopens its doors April 10-13, 2022 in Verona. This is an important opportunity to reintroduce a collective presence, led by the Pavia Chamber of Commerce with Pavia Sviluppo and will find space, as has become a tradition, at the Palaexpo Lombardia, also known as the Lombardy Pavilion where the Consorzio Tutela Vini Oltrepò Pavese area is located (at Stand C 5).
A qualified representation of at least 30 Pavia-based producers, ready to present their excellence to national and international operators and buyers, took part in this edition. An edition of Vinitaly that promises to be exciting also because of the real restart of the world of wine and its international events: "It is an important presence of our territory," said Giovanni Merlino, Extraordinary Commissioner of the Pavia Chamber of Commerce, " and an encouraging signal that testifies to the clear desire to affirm the quality of Pavia wines on an international stage such as Vinitaly, despite the period of global uncertainty.
It will also be an interesting opportunity, that of Vinitaly 2022 at Palaexpo Lombardia, to taste labels from the Denominations dell’Oltrepò Pavese also in combination with a typical Lombard dish such as risotto: in fact, risotto cooked with another excellence such as Carnaroli brand rice from Carnaroli pavese will be served, a pairing promoted by the Chamber in collaboration with local agricultural associations as part of a progetto di valorizzazione of the certified supply chain. In particular, on Monday, April 11, a star risotto will be offered, that is, cooked ad hoc by chef Giovanni Ricciardella.
On the economic front for wine, data indicate a strong recovery for Lombardy exports in 2021 with a value of about 290 million euros and +11.8% compared to 2020. Optimistic signs that have prompted VeronaFiere to increase the presence of foreign buyers covering the most strategic areas from the Atlantic to the Pacific, Europe and from this year also Africa. The exhibition is enriched by numerous events, presentations and tastings and in the important area reserved for Lombardy, with a large tasting room animated with training sessions for journalists, conventions and master classes with the extraordinary tasting project staged by Ascovilo-Grana Padano.
