Casa Oltrepò will be one of the many reasons to line up on the red carpet on Corso della Libertà at the Merano Wine Festival, Nov. 3-7, 2023, and gain access to the review put on by The Wine Hunter for the 32nd edition. "Back to the Roots" is the overarching theme of the Festival, which turns the lights on the quality, origin, excellence and future of Italian wine every year.
The Consorzio Tutela Vini Oltrepò Pavese is present with its tasting space right where the festival begins, on Corso della Libertà, almost opposite the main entrance to the Merano Wine Festival, which this year returns to the past in its program. #CasaOltrepò, in front of the elegant Kurhaus in Merano, is the consortium space in Merano and is once again a showcase and tasting proposal for the wineries that have joined the Consorzio counter, representing the DOC and DOCG of the area. This year it will be possible to taste the products of: Bosco Longhino, Cà del Gè, Cà di Frara, Cantina Taia, Club del Buttafuoco Storico, Ersaf-Tenuta Riccagioia, Finigeto, Fradé, Frecciarossa, Giorgi Wines, Il Molino di Rovescala, La Piotta, Le Fiole, Losito e Guarini, Maggi Francesco, Manuelina, Pietro Torti, Podere Bignolino, Quaquarini, Terre d'Oltrepò, Torre degli Alberi, and Vanzini Wines. The journey to discover Otrepò "Divino" continues in the Kurhaus where the following wineries are present: Cà di Frara, Conte Vistarino, Finigeto and Terre d'Oltrepò. At the tasting, the Denominations represented will be: Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico DOCG, Oltrepò Pavese Riesling DOC , Pinot Nero dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC, Bonarda dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC, Buttafuoco dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC e Sangue di Giuda dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC.
The Consorzio Tutela Vini Oltrepò Pavese - Casa Oltrepò in Merano promotes and foresees, as always, meetings, tastings, and activities related to the world of wine and the tale connected to its Denominations. With a tight schedule that includes two events already in the first two days: with the appointment on Friday, November 3, 2023, at 3:30 p.m., Il Salame di Varzi DOP incontra la Bonarda Doc, the Consorzio di Tutela del Salame di Varzi DOP will be the guest with a very special food&wine insight. Instead, on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 4:30 p.m., an extraordinary Masterclass will be staged at the Hotel Terme di Merano, the seminar venue, titled "Oltrepò Pavese Terra di Pinot Nero ...but not only," led by Mauro Giacomo Bertolli, from the prestigious Tasting Commission of The Wine Hunter Award.
Casa Oltrepò will open each day of the Merano Wine Festival from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. At 12 noon and 6 p.m., "L'aperitivo goloso d'Oltrepò" will be triggered, with tastings of Salame di Varzi DOP, with cheeses from Valle Staffora, Molana, Grana Padano DOP and the traditional "Micca," the official bread dell’Oltrepò Pavese. In the evening, after 6 p.m., Oltrepò Mixology with OltreMito and OltreBitter has become a ritual, but above all, center stage will be uncorking the bubbles ofOltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico DOCG and Bonarda dell’Oltrepò Pavese DOC, perfect protagonists of an identity pairing that is easy to remember.
