The one that closed on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 was a beautiful, well-attended Vinitaly, more quality and fewer casual visitors but still many winelovers, with a full success also for the Denominations of Oltrepò Pavese. To animate a Lombardy PalaExpo that is always alive and increasingly interesting for the quality “of the wine of Lombardy,” with the direction of Pavia and Development – Pavia Chamber of Commerce, and with a driving pairing of excellence, for events and PR opportunities, also promoted by the elegant Lounge “Born To Be Togheter” thanks to the measure that for two years has put together with Ascovilo the Grana Padano PDO.

It was a Vinitaly that had us reviewing at the Consorzio’s booth some 1,400 tastings and passages at the booth (many more) for the tale of the types on the counter, representing the 6 Doc and Docg. A success in numbers and appreciation that was doubled also thanks to the elegant and narrated tastings by sommeliers dedicated to the neighboring Lounge, Ascovilo-Grana Padano Dop, a place of special meetings also institutional.

Numerous and quality visits from producers also took place at Casa Oltrepò, which also hosted the Historic Buttafuoco Club, a prestigious reality of the Doc of the same name, who also met with the trade and journalists in the space of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Oltrepò Pavese, guided as always with competence and kindness by Casa Oltrepò sommelier Gaia Servidio and directed by Carlo Veronese. A Vinitaly that for dell’Oltrepò Pavese marks a record of appreciation – also international – for the Denominazione’s flagship bubbles: 960 sips and smiles for Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico DOCG!

ministro oltrepo

A Vinitaly an opportunity for meetings and relations, including with institutions, with the visit of the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida, with the Regione Lombardia’s Agriculture Councillor Alessandro Beduschi.

Vinitaly in Verona confirms itself as a prestigious international showcase for Lombard wines. This is also demonstrated by the record export figure in 2023, which reached 327 million euros. Vinitaly 2024 closes with 97 thousand attendees; over 30 thousand foreign operators present (31% of total). Among the most visited pavilions is the one from Lombardy.

Vinitaly 2024 saw the Lombardy Pavilion emerge as one of the most popular destinations for visitors. With an extraordinary turnout, right from the first hours of the fair opening. Lombardy and Consorzios were protagonists, therefore, at the 56th edition of Vinitaly. On the strength of a new all-time high in exports that reached 327 million euros in 2023, Lombardy sees 89 percent of its production attributable to its 5 DOCGs, 21 DOCs and 15 IGTs, against a national average of 77 percent.

The Lombardy Pavilion, located on the second floor of PalaExpo, offered 3,300 square meters of space for the Denominazioni story, with the presence of 150 wineries representing Lombardy’s 14 Consorzios, totaling more than 1,000 labels for tasting.
